Over the course of six months, we conducted four hundred hours of interviews and research with WSDOT staff across the state. Between multimodal regional tours and conference room marathons, a narrative emerged to help us understand the human ethos at the core of a statewide transportation agency. The shared language of WSDOT employees — questions, phrases, frustrations, desires, definitions — provoke a candid consideration for each other and the environment we move around in. A curated selection of sound bytes were hand-lettered and installed at the artist-office-studio-gallery at the WSDOT Headquarters.
