In an effort to disrupt the linear energy of institutional administration on the Capital Campus, we transformed two interior office spaces at WSDOT Headquarters into an artist studio and exhibition space for our work and research. By eliminating standard furniture and improvising necessary structural elements, we were able to activate circular patterns of experimentation and improvisation. Instead of solitary work environments, the offices became spaces in flux and conversation as we hosted drop-ins, miniature exhibitions, open office hours, and focused creative sessions.
